“Seek the welfare of the city…for in its welfare you will find your own.”
Jeremiah 29:7.

This verse from Jeremiah and our belief that Jesus meant it when he said, “Whatever you do to the least of these, you do to me” inform and inspire our emphasis on mission and outreach at Central. As a downtown church, we sit at the intersection of power and powerlessness. We are three blocks from the state capitol and three blocks from the two major homeless shelters in Travis County.

Each Sunday, our worshipers are confronted with the promises of the gospel and the reality of the world in which we live. Central has intentionally remained downtown for over 170 years in large part because we believe God has called us to serve and advocate on behalf of all God’s children.
